Time flows. Getting used to this being another form of diary. Currently observing the clicks of my keyboard, people coming and going here and there. Thought about football, about how human competition reveals base tendencies. What should I make for dinner? Curry? Rice? It's nice to feel time with no pressure, to feel things flow for their own sake. To yield to something, but to act when it is needed. A slightly waterlogged (?) box of citron tea lies at an angle a few feet away from me. An empty cup used for alcohol. I smell freshly steamed rice. What's on my mind? Medication, people, alcohol, entertainment.

Discoveries:
A beautiful song done in collaboration with what appears to be a farmer. One feels the simplicity of things in the early morning, when nothing has been established yet. ​

A compulsive kind of night. Made various updates to Vending Machines. Traveling vicariously by writing and analyzing the features of vending machines. An odd kind of voyeur, eh? Thinking about games to play and varying ways to relax. Not much else to say now. ​

Living has been tough lately. Things are piling up. Working now. I tried the Nissin Foods "Black Curry Meshi European Beef". I also heard it referred to as "Continental" Beef flavor, which I found amusing. Very flavorful, with hints of spices I am too tired to recall now. A dreary rain outside all day. Walking around in circles, smoking, seeing a flock of birds gathered in front of a window after rain fell. Losing patience when watching them. Praying for more patience in the future. ​

Feeling a lack of energy. Somehow feeling a drive to read, to play a game, to make something for myself. Care of the self. Fans, as usual. Notification sounds. Lately I have been making various kinds of sandwiches and wrapping them in triangular sandwich bags. This has been fun. Rotating different menus and finding how flavors combine is good fun. On cooking, a piece of advice I heard is something like "You get better at making a dish each time you make it, which is part of the fun". Expect failure. Expect to be tested. Expect to not understand every element of a process. Expect frustration, for small elements in the process to disrupt things in unexpected ways. A tiny bit of spice can either ruin or make a dish. This element of problem solving, especially when done independently from any schooling, is almost... fun? I'm grateful I have access to good ingredients right now. Yesterday's meal was as follows: ​

A bit more energy today. Feeling a bit anxious, watching time flow. The pleasure of writing things into existence. Care, restraint. A goal for this blog is to reveal a bit about my life through ephemeral things: food menus, images, descriptions of the nature around me. Yesterday I was reading The Art of Interactive Design by Chris Crawford. He speaks at length about how much of design for computers is shortsighted: it only "speaks" or "listens", but does not "think". For him this is what interactivity is: a cycle of this kind. In conversation, the interactive cycle is speaking, thinking, and listening. In word processing, it is write, reread, rewrite. As I move through this kind of material, I am given a chance to consider how media like video games are so effective. The premise of interactivity is simple, yet eludes most even now in its complexity. Artists, how might you use interactive elements in your art?
